Who We are
Kilimo Media International (KiMI) is a media based content provider whose mission is is to promote the use of radio as a tool for agricultural extension.
KiMI was formed in 2012 to continue the activities of the Farmer Voice Radio (FVR ) project in Kenya after a three year implementation of the pilot phase that was funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and implemented both through the American Institutes for Research (AIR) and Khulisa Management Services (Khulisa).
FVR was a successful radio-based agriculture extension model built around sustainable radio extension teams staffed by universities and Ministries of Agriculture (and other extension services), and delivered by public, private and/or community radio stations for impact.
KiMI’s collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries ensures availability of technical expertise for radio programme content as well as linking the radio station with the local extension officer who provides much needed guidance to the radio station staff.
